Very similar in shape and size to a rim lock, these Horizontal Mortice Locks were first used in the Georgian and Victorian times, typically in grand, or more expensive homes, where a traditional rim lock was viewed as too 'rustic.' The keyhole is located next to the knob instead of underneath it, as seen on most modern locks.

These Locks are ideal for replacements for old broken locks, or for restorers keen to get their homes traditionally accurate.

These locks are 5 Lever, and as such are suitable for exterior doors. They are very secure, However to attain the appropriate Insurance rated British Standard, it is recommended they be fitted with a British Standard Dead Lock (See linked items below)
